October 30, 2013 -  La Coopérative d'intégration francophone de l'Île-du-Prince-Édouard (CIF) is proud to announce its participation in the very first National Francophone Immigration Week this November 3 to 9, themed L'immigration francophone, une diversité qui nous unit (Francophone immigration, diversity that brings us together).

An initiative of the Fédération des communautés francophones et acadienne du Canada (FCFA), this week-long celebration aims to promote Francophone immigration and diversity in Canada's Francophone and Acadian communities. The initiative was launched last year in Atlantic Canada with Francophone Immigration Week in the Atlantic Region. The event was such a resounding success that it will be celebrated from coast to coast for the first time in 2013.

This year, thanks to an initiative of the Société Nationale de l'Acadie (SNA), each Atlantic province nominated a Champion of Francophone Immigration for the duration of the National Francophone Immigration Week. On Prince Edward Island, the Champion was selected via a province-wide contest organized by the CIF. The CIF is pleased to announce that Gregory Urier, originally from France and living in Prince Edward Island since May 2012, will be the Champion of Immigration for the 2013 edition. He is currently the Assistant Director and Community and Cultural Development Officer at the Carrefour de l'Isle-Saint-Jean in Charlottetown.

The CIF and its partners are organizing several free activities throughout the province during National Francophone Immigration Week.
