The Coopérative d'intégration francophone de l'Île-du-Prince-Édouard (CIF) is proud to announce that its funding from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has been confirmed for the next three years, for a total of $620,827. The Office of Immigration, Settlement and Population (OISP) also confirmed its funding of $85,000 for 2013-2014.
The CIC funding is allocated for services to welcome newcomers and help them settle in the province, as well as for awareness, pairing and integration activities in the community. The OISP grant will fund administrative expenses and additional programs not funded by CIC, such as immigrant recruitment, promotional activities outside the province and a French assessment service for immigrants.
For CIF President Edmond Richard, the confirmation of this funding is excellent news for the organization. "This validates the important work CIF does to welcome and integrate new arrivals. The additional funding from the province of Prince Edward Island will enable the CIF to develop activities that will directly impact the growth of the province's Francophone demographic."
