The CIF is proud to have represented Prince Edward Island’s Acadian and Francophone community during the 10th edition of the Destination Canada job fair. This fair, aimed at Francophone communities outside of Quebec, was held from November 19 to 21, 2013, in Paris and November 23 in Brussels. A total of 3 200 people were selected to take part, based on their skill profile and the job offers at the fair. Prince Edward Island had a delegation of four people: one representing the Bulk Carrier trucking company, two representing the province’s Office of Immigration, Settlement and Population and our provincial coordinator, Jacinthe Lemire.

Jacinthe reports that Prince Edward Island was well represented and attracted several people seeking to immigrate to Canada, namely thanks to the 27 job offers posted by 7 employers. We look forward to welcoming, in the coming months, those who have chosen Prince Edward Island as their new home.

October 30, 2013 -  La Coopérative d'intégration francophone de l'Île-du-Prince-Édouard (CIF) is proud to announce its participation in the very first National Francophone Immigration Week this November 3 to 9, themed L'immigration francophone, une diversité qui nous unit (Francophone immigration, diversity that brings us together).

An initiative of the Fédération des communautés francophones et acadienne du Canada (FCFA), this week-long celebration aims to promote Francophone immigration and diversity in Canada's Francophone and Acadian communities. The initiative was launched last year in Atlantic Canada with Francophone Immigration Week in the Atlantic Region. The event was such a resounding success that it will be celebrated from coast to coast for the first time in 2013.

This year, thanks to an initiative of the Société Nationale de l'Acadie (SNA), each Atlantic province nominated a Champion of Francophone Immigration for the duration of the National Francophone Immigration Week. On Prince Edward Island, the Champion was selected via a province-wide contest organized by the CIF. The CIF is pleased to announce that Gregory Urier, originally from France and living in Prince Edward Island since May 2012, will be the Champion of Immigration for the 2013 edition. He is currently the Assistant Director and Community and Cultural Development Officer at the Carrefour de l'Isle-Saint-Jean in Charlottetown.

The CIF and its partners are organizing several free activities throughout the province during National Francophone Immigration Week.

"We decided to create a new image for the CIF to better reflect what our community has to offer to future French-speaking immigrants. The new logo has a lighthouse that serves as a guide, Confederation Bridge that links the Island to the rest of the world and the Acadian colours that call to mind the importance of integrating immigrants into the host community," confirmed CIF President Edmond Richard.

The CIF also took the opportunity to introduce its new website, now with a catchier address: www.tonile.ca. "The new bilingual website will be easier to navigate for Francophones wanting to settle in Prince Edward Island. It also includes important information for the host community, employers and institutions, such as our activity calendar, our news and the partnership application forms for awareness-raising activities," added Provincial Coordinator Jacinthe Lemire. The former address (www.cifipe.ca) will remain active and will redirect internet users to the new address.

The CIF invites islanders and current and future Francophone immigrants to visit our new website where they will find, among other features, an information section on the Working Holiday Program and a section on the services offered to newcomers and the host community.
